Client portal on your own domain

On Studio and Scale, your clients can sign in at an address on your domain, like reports.youragency.com. They see the latest brief for each of your sites, with your name, logo and color. SenseGap doesn't appear anywhere on it.

Set it up

  1. Pick a subdomain you own, like reports.youragency.com. It can't be the bare domain (youragency.com), because most DNS providers don't allow a CNAME there.
  2. Under Account → Branding, enter it in Client portal on your domain and click Add domain.
  3. Where your domain's DNS is managed (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Route 53 and so on), add the CNAME record the page shows:
    Type: CNAME
Name: reports (some providers want reports.youragency.com)
    Value: portal.sensegap.com
  4. Wait. With the page open, we check every few seconds. It's often live within a few minutes, but DNS changes can take up to a day. The status changes from Waiting for DNS to Live once the security certificate is ready.
Your domain is on Cloudflare too? Set the CNAME to DNS only (grey cloud), not proxied.

TXT records

The CNAME is usually enough. The page may also list one or two TXT records. Add them if the status stays on Waiting for DNS for more than an hour, for example when the subdomain sits behind another proxy or CDN. TXT records don't change where the subdomain points.

Give clients access

Invite each client as a viewer under Account → Team. Once the portal is live, their invite comes from your agency's name and opens on your domain, where they choose a password. Viewers can read briefs but can't change anything.

Client links (the read-only page under a site's Settings → Brief) also move to your domain. Links you shared earlier on sensegap.com keep working.

Remove it

Click Remove domain on the same page, then delete the CNAME record. The portal stops working on that address and client links go back to sensegap.com. You can add a different domain right after.
