Install the WordPress plugin

  1. Download the plugin (also on your site's Install page).
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose sensegap-wordpress.zip, then Install Now and Activate.
  3. In SenseGap, create a site key on the Install page under WordPress. Copy it: it's shown once.
  4. In WordPress, open Settings → SenseGap, paste the key and click Save and check key. It should say Connected to your domain.

Page caching

With page caching (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, a CDN), cached pages are served without running WordPress, so bot visits to them are missed. The plugin warns you when it sees a cache. If your site is on Cloudflare, use the Cloudflare install instead: it sees every request.

Visitor IP

SenseGap checks each bot against its IP address to tell real crawlers from fakes. The plugin's Automatic setting trusts proxy headers only when the request really came through Cloudflare or a private proxy. Change it only if your host puts a different proxy in front of WordPress.
